thinking about buying a used Toshiba laptop?
Most Toshiba laptops are well made, durable, high quality, proven reliable and packed with many features!
First of all you need to establish some criteria for the selection of your new purchase.

Your Budget
The working budget is only a good way to buy, but you miss out on much better machines, unless you read the following.
work is really what you have to spend on selected machines and compare prices of any online or offline.
Your goal here is to get the best possible machine for the money available to you.
a typical pitfall here is a look at the cheapest machine available in a given situation, and then compared to a modern machine, I can not really compare the more modern machines with the older machines but selling price is almost the same time you can include more than one machine spec .
If the purchase price of the laptop is far from your budget then work up the proposals.
If your work is at the upper end of the spectrum of the budget, about 375 650GBP (400USD ~ 750usd), then here are the best bargains available, but generally speaking, most purchases will be of 90GBP-250GBP (100USD ~ 300USD) in the second hand TOSHIBA laptop sector.
is always work to your budget and do your research before you buy.
What are your machine will be used for
This is often overlooked issue, when you buy your next Toshiba write down exactly what the machine will be used, if it is simple to use then look below as an example.
Word Processing
Sending E-mail periodically
even taken here and there
Wireless
Machine will be static and fixed permanently
The main access to the Internet, browse Web sites
the educational and domestic obligations
Occasional DVD movies and software is installed
.... This is a typical classification of machine that requires a relatively light duty, is not going to be used very often or move often, and judging the application form is responsible for children or very young age the task of the machine. I could recommend the following for this task
High-end PIII machine, such as Toshiba Sat 1100, Sun 1000s/3000z (you'll need to buy a Cardbus WiFi card) and Toshiba Sat 4600 (internal WIFI), Tecra 9000 series (built in WiFi and Bluetooth) or sub Pro 6000 (with WIFI built).
the low end to mid-range P4 Celeron processor, such as Toshiba Sat 1110, Sat Pro 1130, (both CardBus WIFI required) Sub Pro 6050 (PIII1200 Inc. built WIFI), Tecra 9100 (P4 built in WIFI), satellite S1900 but more pricey.
Average prices as low as around 80GBP to 175GBP (~ 200USD 95USD)
Another example
Photo shop capability
DVD and CDR writing
Web design
Very easy game (the game depends on request)
Flash graphics work
Some DTP work
WIFI capable
Does it need to be portable? Battery issues?
This class is really a mid-to high-end second-hand bracket, minimum spec machine here to P4 2.8Gig/3.2Gig, wide screen 15.4 "or 15" can be provided, such as 32M / 64M ATI / NVIDIA graphics solution (as a minimum), and may be essential to the photo shop. I would recommend a machine with at least a minimum of 768m, but 1gig or more is better for this type of work, 60gig minimum disk space and at least three ports of UBD. In short this machine could be for the student looking for a cheap design powerful machine or a semi professional DTP users.
Toshiba Satellite P20/25 series P4 machines (they were originally Multimedia / lifestyle machines)
Toshiba Tecra M10 Centrino series with the Nvidia graphics solutions 64m
Toshiba Tecra M3 Centrino series with the Nvidia graphics solutions (but with a smaller 14.1 "screen)
Toshiba Sat M40 Centrino (533Mhz bus) 15.4 widescreen (M30 is not convenient, but cheaper)
Toshiba Sat A60 P4 2.6 or higher (do not buy the Core version) 15 "screen
Toshiba Sat M60 series are very good high end Centrinos with 15.4 "display
form of low prices 165GBP to 280GBP (180 ~ 310USD), depending on condition and spec
and finally one more example
using eBay
the Web
Office 2003 or newer
accounts package
WIFI and LAN and WAN capable
2xUSB
good battery is important
reasonably small footprint size, but not below 13.3 "display
Good quality keyboard
weight under 2.5kg
This is a classic business machine setup, I would only recommend Centrinos for this type of work just because a machine has a requirement for use outside the office and away from power for some time, and Centrino is much more energy efficient and can be controlled better than say P4, P4 and older Celeron PIII computer would not get a look in here. Plus the heat given off of the Centrino is much less than say a high end P4 3Gig machine, at least if you use it on your lap you can without getting too hot!
It is interesting that some Centrino Duo machines come into the picture here as well. Widescreen or very large screens here is not important because the user will be spending time using word-processing, scanning e-mail, spreadsheets, using, and will probably benefit from using a smaller machine than pulling some really big machine with a 15.4 "by above.
also in the business world you must take into account not just lugging around a laptop, but any paper work and accessories, and with really great laptop to be a major drawback. The second criterion is a nice keyboard action or a machine that has a good qaulity keyboard that is well laid out and has some space on the palm rest of the hand when the contant use.
Toshiba Tecra M2 series machines with 14.1 "display and a combo drive in case you need to record data.
Toshiba L10 and L20 Sat machines (but only after it is upgraded to Centrino) celerons not do it.
Toshiba M5 (Centrino Duo), but not many around 14.1 "
Toshiba Tecra S1 Series, 15 "and 14.1" machines.
Toshiba Satellite M50 Machine 14.1 windscreen which is a great machine for this type of work
cost of around 160GBP to 220GBP (180USD ~ 290usd) should get you some good machines
I have not really touched the game, the reason is that most machinery used is really not up to the task, no matter what some dealers will tell you (unless you play very old games) and most recent games require a very strict hardware specifications, which means that from most people's budget, the other thing is if you spend at least £ 1000GBP (1500USD) you will not get a laptop capable of running a modern game. Better to buy a console game or buy a high end PC half the price of high-end laptop and at least you can upgrade as you go along.
I want to thank you for reading this far, and the second part, we will be looking at the next section features-require
for now
